The Institute of Solar Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences has noted a decrease in solar activity, with a large coronal hole forming on the Sun, potentially resulting in magnetic storms.

The main astronomical focus this week will shift from the Sun's activity to the closest approach of the interstellar visitor 3I/ATLAS to Earth on December 19.
