The Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad reports that a labor employment program for Kyrgyz citizens in South Korea is underway, established through a Memorandum with the Ministry of Employment and Labor of the Republic of Korea.
Since 2007, the program has been in operation, with renewals every two years. Two Korean language proficiency tests were administered, resulting in 339 successful candidates out of 1,350 test-takers. Subsequently, 225 individuals secured job contracts, with 232 Kyrgyz citizens, including 30 women, commencing work in diverse sectors like food, chemical, paper, plastic, rubber, and glass production facilities. The average monthly salary for participants stands at $1,700 USD.
Presently, more than 1,500 Kyrgyz citizens are engaged in South Korea under the EPS program, showcasing the initiative's significance in providing employment opportunities for Kyrgyz nationals overseas.
